Change it up

Hey all you blogg’n babes out there!

This morning I went out of town with the Runners’ Edge crew to change up the scenery a bit.

pretty eh!

I had an AWESOME 15km run along The Beach Trail. We ran out and back and it was nice and FLAT! It was my first time there… but I liked it.

i'm all about appearance when i run... can you tell? ha yeah right!

To be quite honest, I wasn’t quite sure how my run would go but I am so happy with how it turned out though and felt great.

Mentally, I felt awesome and I was really in check with my pace (ran an average 5:30 pace/km), breathing and just really enjoying the change of scenery. There were lots of people walking, running, biking, etc. along the trail, so I obviously enjoyed people watching while I ran and a few “good mornings” and “buon giornos” here and there. Physically, I was good but my kness were throbbing and my shin splints were hurting.

WHY do I have shin splints all of a sudden, two weeks before my race? Maybe from my hill workout? I plan to ice ice ice and hope that it goes away asap. Here’s hoping!

Today was my first time running with a Garmin watch (sad, I know). Someone is lending me their old one until after my race and I’m ever greatful for their kindness. Even though the watch was eating my wrist the entire time because it’s so big, I loved it! I loved everything about it. I think knowing my exact pace and knowing how much farther I had to go really helped me, so I know when I can pick it up a bit depending on how I feel. Definitely need to put this on my list of things to get.

sorry.. i forgot to shave my arms before taking the picture.....

Do you run with a Garmin watch? If so, which one?!

Do you always run the same route or do you like to change it up a bit?

It was sooo nice to change it up today and the change in scenery. Not as boring and new things to look at!

What should I bake today for GMan?!

He’s still not feeling 100% and his ankle is still pretty swollen. A little treat is always a good “pick me up”, no?

Shin issues are awful – that’s usually my problem too. Ice ice ice. And call Janice – she’s fabulous and will help loosen things up for you. It’ll hurt a bit though so brace yourself :)

I like switching it up too! That trail looks gorgeous. What a great time to take it all in!

Hey, Sabrina, I enjoyed running with you yesterday, at least until you left me in your dust! Hope the shin splints disappear quickly! I noticed the paparazzi has good taste. They took lots of you and only one of me. Can you email me the one of us please?

Great job! Is that the Hamilton path? We do that route but moreso in the summer.
I run with the 305…and LOVE it..am a total slave to it.

yes, it is the hamilton path!! I’ve heard good things about the 305… maybe i’ll have to check it out.

  5. That looks like a great run – although a bit chilly! I prefer my chilly runs to come with snow on the sidelines…makes me feel more badass! ;)

I have a Garmin 305 and pretty much love it. It is large, but I don’t notice it once I start out. Besides, it makes me feel like a “real runner”!

    I’m a sweets addict…cookies always make me feel better…I’m a bad influence!

let’s be friends! I am definitely a sweet addict all the way…. bad influence? no way… it’s good for the soul :)

Beautiful run! I wish I could run along the ocean more often.

I run with a Garmin 405. I really enjoy being able to run freely along any route that I choose without having to map it when I get home.

    • Radioactive Runner says:

I TOTALLY agree.. the few times that I have ran with it, I have felt the same way.
It would be beautiful to run by the ocean.. you totally should!
