What a day!
I just got in from a VERY windy run! I came home to find out that there are actually wind warnings out. Thankfully I made it home in once piece. I mentioned I’m having a hard time staying motivated and this weather is sooooooo not helping. Although I am happy about the short 7.86km run that I ran this morning.
My legs felt tight, so I stopped and stretched for a minute and was on my merry way again. At times it felt like I was running on the spot from pushing against the wind or else going to fall smack on my face from it being at my back. It almost took me off my feet a couple times… thankfully my thunder thighs weigh me down.
So ten hours later, I’m back. My plan was to have this post up this morning but that was cut short. The power went out… for ten hours!! What a day! It was out in most of the city so lots of stores and businesses were closed but the streets were jammed pack… with traffic and trees. I hope nobody got hurt.
A roof blew right off one of the schools…… it was crazy windy out I tell ya.
It’s kind of sad (but in a way really awesome at the same time) to think about how much we depend on technology and power. I bet I tried to turn the light switch on 50 times until I actually remembered “oh yeah, no power”. Couldn’t do much in the office today either because well, no computer, no printer, no email and in some places no phone service. I wonder how long we could go without the internet before people start to go bonkers? I’m guessing for not very long…
When I lived in Cuba, after the first hurricane (I was there for two) we went a full month without hydro and water. Oh yeah, and it was for the month of August.. which means it was VERY hot out!! It was awful for sleeping… no fans = soo hot and uncomfortable and lots of mosquitoes. I was a walking, red polka-doted mess. It was quite the experience, let me tell you.
What’s the longest you’ve gone without power? How long do you think you could go (before going crazy) without internet!?
Wow! Glad that you got through your run safely!
hope all is well. miss you.
thanks so much Lindsay. I miss you too and look forward to catching up and hearing how you are doing!
