Decision Made

Happy Friday all!

Today I was able to run for the first time in a week! I wanted to see how my legs felt and see how my stomach handled the movement because I am still not feeling 100%. Yesterday I was able to eat a meal for the first time in four days. I knew that I needed to slowly get the food in me in case I decide to run ATB. I was craving a sub so bad for some reason and I just had to have one.mr-sub-cravingHalf a roasted turkey sub for lunch with a chocolate milk and the other half for dinner. YUM! It was delish and I’m starting to crave another as I look at that picture.  I was also craving a blizzard from Dairy Queen but haven’t fulfilled that craving. The Dairy Queen commercials are killling me.. if I have a craving the only way to get it out of my head is to eat it and be done with it but I am not splurging on this one… yet.

Back to my run this morning… I ran for a good 55 minutes. Despite my stomach rumbling a bit, I was surprised at how good I felt. I only had to stop and walk once. My legs felt all right as well which I was also surprised but happy about since I have been laying around and haven’t been that active. I wasn’t sure what gear to wear this morning because of the weather but after changing out of a pair of shorts I put on my light Mizuno tights with my Dri-Fit Nike shirt. I was a little warm up top but the tights were fine and they are so comfortable. Adios winter running gear!! (knock on wood)

So, after lots of humming and hawing the verdict is that I’M GOING TO RUN ON SUNDAY!! I’m going to go for it and hope for the best. G-Man thinks I shouldn’t run although he understands my decision. He doesn’t want me to smash my face up…you know, when I fall on my face, I guess?.. isn’t he sweet eh. I just have to remind myself to eat and eat wisely between now and Saturday night. Fluid intake hasn’t been a problem so I’m not worried about that part of it. The only thing I’m a little bit concerned about is how my stomach will react to the GU gels and chomps but I’ll deal with that when the time comes. I feel ready mentally and you know what they say… running is 90% mental. I’m starting to get really excited but at the same time I don’t want to think too much about the race because I don’t want my nerves to get the best of me. Mind over matter, Baby… mind over matter, right! Some of my best long training runs were when I didn’t overthink them and just got up and headed out the door and I’m trying to keep that same mindset for Sunday. The only difference is that I’ll be running with about 9,000 other people. Gulp.

I have no idea what I’m going to wear and probably won’t up until Sunday morning. Oh nooo, not another big decision! I wish I could wear my RAR shirt but since it’s cotton that wouldn’t be a smart now would it. I’m going to put a playlist together, I plan to carry my iPod for most of the time but figure some booty-shaking-music will give me that extra push and motivation in the last 10km for those killer hills. It better!!

Cheers to a great weekend with friends and family, crossing the finish line without falling on my face running hard and accomplishing goals!

What are your plans this weekend?!

    Hi,
We will be there on Sunday to cheer you on…..we do not want you to fall on that pretty little face of yours. I am concerned about your run but know you will listen to your body on Sunday. Be strong we both know you can do anything you put your mind to.
    Love,
    Mom and Dad

Fall on your face?! Haha – you won’t. ;) But I love that Gustavo is concerned about you – he’s a good husband. :D Glad you’re trying it and giving it a go – the worst that can happen is you listen to your body and say, “Not today!” Have fun, most importantly, and run smart – enjoy the experience and glad you’re getting food in again. Wish I was meeting you at the start to run with you!

Oh those Blizzards… mmmm. Er. Sorry! I don’t know how I manage only allowing myself one per year (Pumpkin Pie @ Thanksgiving – Large :\ ! )
Good luck to you on Sunday, I will be thinking of you! Especially while I’m only running my ‘measily’ 5 k :/
Listen to your body and have FUN!!! Make sure people are cheering and smiling!! (I had to do that once!) It will fuel your run to smile !!!

PS: I think the Adios to winter running gear isn’t as far fetch as you may think! Woo!

  6. […] Remember that blizzard I mentioned? Well, I may or may not have fulfilled my craving… Ok, I most definitely did and enjoyed every […]
