Well there is one word for this week: COLD! It is mighty cold here .. and to think this is just the beginning!
I am definitely an early morning runner. In the summertime it’s beautiful to run as the sun is rising, the city comes alive and before it gets to hot and humid. In the wintertime, well… It seems that I am still trying to figure that one out ;) With it being so cold, snowy and windy (again, this ain’t nothing yet!), I have been questioning myself this week as to WHY I continue to run during the winter. At the beginning of the week, on my morning runs, I spent more time debating and contemplating if I should really go for that run OR just workout indoors. After about an hour, thankfully I just told myself to “be quiet, get dressed and go”. In the end, it’s always worth it. So after a couple days, today on my run my answer finally came to me about WHY I continue to run during the winter:
Running is my passion. Even though some days it may be difficult to wake up early and head out the door for an early run in the cold, it’s well worth it and very rewarding. It’s just me and the road. The sound of my shoes hitting the snow. I wake up and go because I can. Because I am healthy and can use my legs to take me where I need to go. I appreciate all things that running gives me; clarity, determination, discipline, being healthy, and according to my husband, a sexy bod :)
